Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Technician

About Your New Employer

This is a permanent, onsite job with a global chemical manufacturing organisation based in Athlone.

You will work within the Engineering department to ensure that all site and plant facilities are maintained in accordance with Electrical, Control and Instrumentation statutory requirements and industry best practice whilst driving improvements across the site. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary project team, you will plan carefully, carry out your work safely and document and communicate their works accurately to your supervisor.

Please note, candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland.

About Your New Job as an ECI Technician:

  • Maintenance and inspection on L.V. electrical systems and electrical machinery including those within ATEX zones.
  • Maintenance, inspection and calibration of various types of process control instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, controllers, analysers, etc.
  • Involvement in projects - includes assisting in areas such as design through to commissioning.
  • Maintenance and development of PLC control systems.
  • Development of maintenance systems on site.
  • Further develop site maintenance and inspection procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements for statutory electrical inspections and ISO standards.
  • Ensure plant and site repairs/maintenance are carried in such a way to ensure continued safe operation.
  • Ensure responsibilities within Process Safety are adhered to.

What Skills You Need:

  • Qualifications to IEC 60364 or local equivalent (BS7671 / ET101)
  • Minimum two years of experience with ATEX systems, Process Equipment Calibration, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Fault finding ability on both electrical and instrumentation systems up to 415V
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems and ladder logic.
  • Range of Instrumentation experience: mass, temperature, pressure, level and flow.
